Pictured below are
the Zanerian-style straight and oblique penholders that are currently available
from Del Tysdal. See below for prices and ordering. These penholders are made
of real woods, hand turned, buffed and polished. They are modeled after the
holders made by John Huran in the 1920s for the
Zanerian College of Penmanship,
The calligraphy
holder has a 'flat' spot on the finger end for a bit more control if wanted
(See Figure A below). Of course, the flat spot can be turned if you prefer a
rounded end for your finger.
The copperplate
holder will use the Hunt 101, Principality #1, Zanerian Fine Writer nibs.
(In fact, the flange is one
of the most versatile I have seen since it will also work with nibs like the
modern Gillott 303, 1068A, Hunt 22, 56 and even some large points like the
vintage Spencerian No. 2……Joe Vitolo)
The calligraphy
pen holds all currently used nibs, such as Speedball.
